Anadolu Efes Istanbul are the side in fifth place in Group E but with all of the playoff spots confirmed, there is nothing but pride to play for in this game for the Turkish side. This may put a slight dampener on the atmosphere for this game but the Greeks have certainly a lot to think about, which means that they will be well up for it.
Even though Anadolu are dropping out, they have enjoyed some big performances from big players of late. One of the best players in the Euroleague in recent times has been Thomas Heurtel. Heurtel has been instrumental in leading an attack and with players like Jon Diebler, Cedi Osman and Jayson Granger involved, the Turkish side haven’t been too bad. If Alex Tyus and Bryant Dunston have strong games, there could be some joy for the Anadolu fans at the end of this game on Thursday evening. It is not as though one win will block out the memories of a disappointing Top 16, but it is far better to end a campaign with a win than a loss.

While Panathinaikos already know that they have a playoff place secured, they have a chance to grab second place in the group and the home court advantage that goes with it. The Greeks have the same record as the team in second place, Lokomotiv Kuban Krasnodar, and if results go in favour of the Greens, it could be a brilliant night and week for the Greek side. Panthinaikos have to win and hope that Lokomotiv lose in Istanbul on Friday night to grab second place. If any other outcome occurs, Panathinaikos will finish in third place and they will have to take on CSKA Moscow or Laboral Kutxa Vitoria Gasteiz in the next round.
