Zalgiris (1-9) finally won its first game of the season! They “welcomed” a disappointing Panathinaikos in Kaunas, prevailed 76-69 and stopped the historical record of 9 consecutive defeats at the beginning of this year’s Euroleague. Zdovc’s team did not impress with its performance, but Panathinaikos was – simply – even worse than the Lithuanians. Nevertheless, the Slovenian coach found solutions from veterans Milaknis and Ulanovas, shooting well all night from the perimeter.

French center Lovern is permanently out (8.5 points, 4 rebounds), but now the captain of Zalgiris,  power forward Jankunas (2.6 points, 2.8 rebounds), has been added to the medical report for tonight’s game. In addition, Zalgiris will have a new face in the squad tonight. Lithuanian forward Miniotas was acquired by Bilbao to complement Dragic and Webster as a third guard.

On the other hand, Fenerbahce is on an ever-learning curve. But without much result. One week after getting “abused” by Armani in Turkey and the negative record of 43 points scored in 40′, they have been defeated again; this time by Bayern Munich (71-63 on the road) and remained near the bottom of the standings with a 3-7 record. Sasa Djordjevic is no longer comfortable on Fener’s bench, where he can feel the pressure and listen to the fans’ whining. A possible new defeat may bring changes to the team earlier than expected. German PF Danilo Barthel remains out of action.
