For many people, the NCAA 2015 March Madness is shaping up to be a tournament where Kentucky will face off against Kansas or Virginia in the final. These are the teams that will have plenty of money put on them and it is understandable that a great deal will be written about these teams in the run-up to the tournament.

However, it takes a lot of teams to make a tournament and you never know what is going to happen when two teams take to the court. We’re not saying that the above teams are going to fall to a big shock nor are we saying that the teams mentioned below are going to cause a major upset and take the crown on the 6th of April but if you are looking to find out about teams that may ruffle a few feathers and give you something to look forward to outside of the main teams, these could be worth looking out for.

Have a look at our comprehensive March Madness Betting Guide. We encourage you to read this guide if you are new to – or want to know where to wager on the NCAA Basketball tournament.

Iowa Hawkeyes

Iowa Hawkeyes LogoThis is the sort of team that no one wants to play against. The Hawkeyes don’t really dominate games or take over their opponents but they never give you a second’s peace. This means that you can never fully relax against them or catch your breath. It may be that even if a team overcomes the Hawkeyes, they may find that they take so much out of themselves that they struggle in their next game.

An early season win against North Carolina set the tone for the campaign but along the way, there have been too many trips and stumbles. The Hawkeyes have developed a habit of defeating a major team but then failing to build on it. For this reason, they are unlikely to be a serious contender for the title but they could have a big say in who progresses and at what cost.

San Diego State Aztecs

San Diego State is never one of the firm teams that people recall or think about because their strength lies in defence. It is the teams with a stylish and powerful attack that stick in your mind but as an old saying goes, it is your defence that wins your trophies and titles. The Aztecs defence may not be strong enough to take them all the way to the Championship but they are going to be fierce opposition to whoever comes up against them.

North Carolina State Wolfpack

North Carolina State Wolfpack LogoWhen you look at the results obtained by the Wolfpack this season, you have to think that they have something about them. They have managed to defeat Duke, ranked at number 2, Louisville, ranked at number 9 and North Carolina, who are ranked at number 15. They lost narrowly to Virginia and they were defeated by four by Notre Dame, in a game that went to overtime. These results make you wonder why they only achieved a 10-8 record in the ACC, and you realise that this is a team that is equipped to play in the big games.

Davidson Wildcats

The Wildcats have a key player and in Tyler Kalinoski, they could have a player that turns defeats into wins in the blink of an eye. Kalinoski managed an average of 16.9 points per game this campaign alongside grabbing an average of 5.7 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game.

These teams may not have enough about them to clinch victory this Spring but they will certainly touch more madness to March Madness.
