The NCAA tournament is one of the most popular sporting events in America, and around the world, and the closer we get to the action, the more tangible the event begins to feel. While there is no substitute for the fun and excitement that comes with the actual games, this is the time of year when plenty of reputations are made, staked or even broken. Sometimes it is all about coming into March Madness in the right frame of mind or in great form. If this rings true, Duke will be doing extremely well as they ended their regular campaign with a winning run of 11 games. This sort of winning streak will always be well received but when you manage to achieve four big wins against highly rated opponents, you can rest assured that you are going to be looked at favourably.
One reason why the team are being considered to be a strong option came in their 94-51 triumph against Wake Forest. With Jahil Okafor only offering up 6 points in the game, it shows that Duke have strength in depth when it comes to grabbing points and winning games. Of course, in their final game of the campaign away to North Carolina, Okafor was back to his best with 14 points, which stemmed from a 7 from 9 record. This win should ensure that Duke is the top seed from the ACC.
While there are some teams who will fancy their chances of coming out on top, even against these sides, there is no getting away from the fact that Duke and the Cavs are sound bets to go far in March Madness this year.
