Euroleague - I Feel DevotionYou may be looking forward to Friday night Euroleague action, including the Barcelona v Panathinaikos clash in Group C, but there has been some big Euroleague action this week, and there are some massive matches taking place next week. There isn’t any time to blink or catch breath in the Euroleague at the moment, even if some teams know that their work for the week is already completed.

A handful of games in Round 5 have already taken place and one team that is delighted that they played early is Olympiacos Piraeus. The Greek side now site with a 5-0 record, as of Friday lunchtime the only team that can boast of that sort of record, but they can also look comfortably down at the rest of Group D. only one team, Crvena Zvezda Telekom Belgrade, sits with a 3-2 record and then you have three sides sitting with a 2-3 record. At the bottom of the group, Valencia Basket sit a little bit detached from the rest of the group.

The rest of the groups still have to battle it out on Friday night but for the teams in Group D, the Euroleague action for this week is over and it is time to move on.

Can the Greek side celebrate on a historical night?

Euroleague - PanathinaikosWith respect to big match action on Friday night, it is hard to argue with the top of the table clash that is taking place in Group C. Group leaders Barcelona currently sit with a 4-0 record but Panathinaikos know that if they win, they go top of the group. This will be the Greek side’s 300th game in the Euroleague, and what better way to celebrate than by going top of the group? This is the match that offers plenty of basketball betting opportunities and there are some top tips if you want to add a level of excitement to this match.

The big games keep coming for Real Madrid

Group A may have a match-up between 1st and 3rd but given the tight nature of the league, if Anadolu Efes Istanbul beat Real Madrid, they could set up a three way tie of teams with a 4-1 record. This means that Madrid know that they have to be on guard in this game, although the home support is likely to be enough to see their team home. The thing is though, if Madrid do clinch the win, there will be no time to relax or take things easy.

Euroleague - Real MadridIn Group A in Round 6, there is going to be an almighty match between the teams that are the favourite picks of many basketball fans. It is clear that Real Madrid are the team that many fans expect to go far this season, avenging their loss in last season’s Euroleague Final, but in Group A, their big rivals are Zalgiris Kaunas. Obviously both teams have Round 5 matches to take care of before they can fully focus on this match but already, this game will be at the back of their mind. If Kaunas has any genuine hope of toppling Madrid from the top of the table, they will need to take care of business themselves. A home win on Friday the 21st of November could ignite Group A and give Kaunas fans a lot to cheer about.

In Group C, both Barcelona and Panathinaikos will be travelling to teams who currently hold a 1-4 record, so away wins will be expected, but this is where real champions stand up and show their strength.

In Group D, there is a top versus bottom clash and you have to expect Olympiacos to go 6-0 for the season, although it would be a monumental shock if Valencia can cause an upset. For Olympiacos, it is likely to be a good night as they should win and the middle of the table will battle it out amongst themselves, leaving some of the teams to fall further behind.
