14/11/2014 20:00 – FC Barcelona v Panathinaikos Athens

Euroleague Betting Tips - Barcelona v PanathinaikosThe top two teams in Group C clash and an away win would see a change in leadership in the group. However, you can guarantee that Barcelona will not be keen to relinquish their grip on the top of the table and with a 4-0 record in the Euroleague 2014/15 campaign so far, you would not bet against the Catalan giants staying secure at the top and going on to a 5-0 record.

Of course, the fact that Panathinaikos have a stronger points difference than Barcelona has, even before they play, provides the incentive to turn that 3-1 record into a 4-1 record for both teams. There is no doubt that this is going to be one of the most anticipated Euroleague games of the week, and you should make the effort to see this match if you can.

Barcelona have had a perfect start in the Euroleague

Barcelona secured their 4-0 record in dramatic circumstances, defeating Fenerbahce Ulker by a score of 78-80. It was a contest that was open until the final shot but the Catalan side grabbed a big win on the road, keeping their perfect start to the season intact. There were a number of standout players for Barcelona with Brad Oleson grabbing 16 points while Justin Doellman and Ante Tomic both served up 12 points, while Juan Carlos Navarro offered up 11.

The side have also been in strong form in their domestic league, standing with a 5-1 record. The last domestic game for Barca resulted in a straightforward 66-80 win on the road against Iberostar Tenerife.

As for Panathinaikos, the Greek side moved onto a 3-1 record with a straightforward home win against EA7 Milan, running out 90-63 winners in the end. Esteban Batista was the top man for the Greeks with 15 points while A.J. Slaughter and Nikos Pappas offered 11 points and Dimitris Diamantidis was able to provide 6 points, 2 steals, 7 rebounds and 8 assists over the course of the game.

Panathinaikos have started strongly at home and in Europe

Euroleague - PanathinaikosPanathinaikos are also on form in their domestic league, standing with a 5-0 record. The last match for the Greek team was a 79-70 win against AGOR. Going into the clash in Catalonia, there are no known injuries for Panathinaikos to worry about while Barcelona will be without Marcus Eriksson for a period of around 6 months. This is down to the fact that the player has just undergone knee surgery. This is a big blow for Barcelona but they have plenty of other players that you expect to step up and minimise the impact caused by the loss of the player.

With respect to the Over/Under market, odds of 1.90 for Over 153.5 look to be of interest, so be sure to keep an eye out for that if you want an interest deep into the final quarter. With respect to the Spread Pick, it is likely to be a close match and I think the odds of 1.90 for Panathinaikos at +9 is well worth looking into. It is not out of the question that the Greek team can spring a shock here but you don’t expect Barcelona to demolish their opponent, so this is a sensible spread bet. Bet Now!

With Diamantidis and Slaughter on great form going into this game, you have players that are not going to be intimidated by their opponent or the venue. Knowing that there is a chance to go top of the group will spur the Greek side on and this is why the smart money is going on them to edge a tight encounter with a slight positive handicap.
