While the exciting and thrilling basketball action is the main focus for people all around the world when the Euroleague Final Four takes place, for many fans, the on-court action is only part of the fun. The Final Four is an event where the fans are encouraged to come along and have some fun. Madrid is a fantastic city, so a trip there at any time of year is of benefit, but if you are in or close to Madrid and love basketball, the Fanzone events are well worth checking out. The Fanzone is open between Friday the 15th of May and Sunday the 17th of May, so there is something worth looking out for over the course of the weekend.
There will be 600 participants taking part in the weekend and there will be a great number of events being organised by the sponsors and corporate partners. One of the main attractions will be the Euroleague ABC 5×5 School Tournament, which is being presented by Turkish Tourism. There will be two tournaments, one for men and for one for women, and there will be 12 schools from the Madrid area taking place. This means that there will be up to 240 students taking part in the event. The initial phase of the tournament will involve four groups with three teams in it and the winner of each group will make their way through to the big final on Sunday. There will be 15 games in total in both tournaments so if you are looking to see even more basketball action, this is the place for you to be this weekend.
Big sponsors get involved with Fanzone
Something else of note will be the One on One tournament and the Skills Challenge, both of which are sponsored by EA7 Emporio Armani. This focuses on the skills and top techniques of basketball players, which is something that a lot of fans want to see. This is definitely the sort of event that young basketball fans love, and it can be a great way to introduce your youngsters into the brilliance of basketball. Sometimes a full basketball game can be a bit much for young fans to sit through so anything which distils the exciting elements of the game into a short spell has to be seen as a good thing for all involved with the sport.
