When you think of these two teams clashing in the Final Four, it is inevitable that you will drift back towards 2012 with one of the most stunning triumphs in Euroleague history.

Olympiacos were trailing by 19 points in the final quarter but with a strong fight-back, they won by 61-62 thanks to Georgios Printezis scoring with 0.7 seconds left on the clock. The Greek side were in stronger form the following season with a 52-69 in the semi-final before winning the Euroleague. This season looks set to be an intriguing affair between the team that has the best offensive record, CSKA Moscow with 87.8 points per game and the team with the best defensive record, Olympiacos, who have conceded an average of 71.2 points per game. In the Top 16, both teams won their home game with Olympiacos being the first team to defeat the Russian side this season, winning 84-76 in Round 6 of the Top 16. The Russian side triumphed 76-70 in Round 13 in the Top 16. These were interesting games, but they were games when both teams rested players, so this could be a different affair.

Both teams progressed through the Playoffs with a 3-1 record and while the CSKA Moscow record of a 25-3 season is highly impressive, the Olympiacos Piraeus record of 21-7 is not too shabby. CSKA achieved a perfect score in their regular season and held a 12-2 in the Top 16. Olympiacos picked up an 8-2 record in the regular season and held a 10-4 record in the Top 16.

Teodosic pulls the strings for CSKA Moscow

Milos Teodosic is the key player for CSKA Moscow coming into the Final Four, leading the way with respect to average points scored and average assists. The Serbian guard who has been with CSKA Moscow since 2011/12 has delivered an average of 15.0 points per game this campaign while also serving up an average of 7.1 assists. Teodosic played for Olympiacos between 2007/08 and 2010/11 and he was the Euroleague MVP in 2009/10. The player has had a number of near misses in the Euroleague, the pain of which has been amplified with defeats at the hands of his former club, but the form shown by Teodosic this season indicates that he is very much in the mood to finally grab the Euroleague title.

A huge player for Olympiacos has been Vassilis Spanoulis. He is the leading point scorer and the leading assists player for the Greek side this season. The Greek guard has offered up an average of 14.9 points per game this campaign and an average of 5.7 assists per game this season. Spanoulis had a season with the Houston Rockets, which was sandwiched by two spells with Panathinaikos Athens (in 2005/06 and then from 2007/08 to 2009/10), where upon he made the switch to Olympiacos.

Spanoulis has been in 6 All-Euroleague teams, he was the MVP for the Euroleague in 2013, the All Europe Player of the Year in 2012 and 2013 and he was previously named the Balkan Athlete of the Year back in 2009. With three Euroleague titles under his belt, in 2009, 2012 and 2013, he has the experience and expertise that teams are looking for at this stage of the season and he could be a big factor in Olympiacos are celebrating in Madrid this month.

Domestically, CSKA Moscow are currently involved in their playoffs and have a 2-0 lead over Astana in the quarter finals with the two sides clashing again on the 7th of March. Olympiacos sit at the top of the Greek league with a 24-1 record and on May the 6th, they grabbed an away win against Aris, winning by 58-69.
