With two teams on 4 points, two teams on 3 points and two teams on 2 points, Group D is well spread out going into the third round of games. All of the players know that a day off is looming on Tuesday but there can be no thought of that break now, not when there are big points on offer.

The results from Group D on Sunday 6th September were:

  • Estonia 55 – Belgium 84
  • Latvia 49 – Lithuania 68
  • Ukraine 64 – Czech Republic 78

Belgium bounced back strongly from their opening day defeat to the Group D hosts and they will be feeling confident about pushing on for a play-off spot. It doesn’t do Estonia much good but this was a match that Belgium were in control of from very early on and there was no doubt which way the result was heading before too long.

Matt Lojeski provided 16 points and 6 rebounds for the Belgians who were in need of a big win.

As you would expect from a game against two neighbours, the match between Latvia and Lithuania was a tense affair. Latvia hung on in there until half-time but in the second half of the game. Lithuania were able to showcase their skills and strength by racing away from the group hosts. Jonas Maciulis was well up for the game and his 13 points and strong attitude was a big factor in the final outcome of the game.

The Czech Republic grabbed the upper hand of this game very early on and they never looked like losing. One of the key factors in the match was the fact that the Czech Republic big players were strong and on the run throughout the game, something which wasn’t quite the case for the Ukrainians.

Jan Vesely grabbed 19 points and 9 assists in this game and his energy and enthusiasm was a key component of the confident win gained by the Czech Republic.

Previews for the games taking place on Monday 7th of September:

Lithuania v Belgium

With two wins out of two, Lithuania have given themselves some leeway heading into their third game, but they will know that the game against Belgium represents a great chance to book a third win and push through to the knock-out round. However, with Belgium coming off the back of a strong win against Estonia, they will face an opponent who definitely has some confidence about them.

The strength of the Lithuanians should be enough to see them through in the end but if Belgium can hang on in there in the first half; this could be a game that heads to the wire.

Lithuania should have enough about them to win and if they show their strength, the bet of Lithuania at -8, with odds of 1.90, is a very attractive option. For the Over/Under market, look to go OVER 140.5 at odds of 1.90. Bet Now!

Czech Republic v Latvia

After a defeat to bitter rivals, Group D host nation Latvia will be desperate to get back to winning ways but they won’t find it easy against Czech Republic. With two wins out of the two, the Czechs may not be fully focused on this game but playing against the group hosts who will have a loud and boisterous crowd behind them will likely inspire the Czech Republic as much as the hosts.

The fact that the Czech Republic can be found with a handicap of +1.5 at odds of 1.90, makes them an excellent bet for this match which genuinely could go either way. If you are looking to get involved with the Over/Under market, look to go OVER 148.5 at odds of 1.90. Bet Now!

Ukraine v Estonia

Some team will come out of this match with their first win, which makes this a tantalising game. Estonia didn’t come to the tournament with many expectations but they know that a win in this game will give them a chance of sneaking through to the play-offs. The desire to win will be evident but equally, both teams will know that the losing side will have an uphill battle to make it through to the knock-out round in Lille.

Ukraine know that this is a must win game for them and taking them with a -8 handicap, at odds of 1.90, is likely to be a sound bet. If you are keen to take advantage of the Over/Under options for this game, look to go OVER 139.5 at odds of 1.90. Bet Now!
