The win over Belgium put the Czech Republic in pole position in Group D and by the end of the evening, they were celebrating booking a place in the knock-out round thanks to other results. The Belgium side had a strong final quarter but this was when Tomás Satoransky stepped up and saw the Czech Republic home in good style. Jan Vesely grabbed 21 points for the winning side while Pierre Antoine-Gillet provided 10 points for the losing team.
On a day of close finishes in Group D, the Ukraine victory over the host team was the closest win of the day and the slightly shock result keeps the Ukraine in contention for a qualification spot. Kyrylo Fesenko was again at the heart of the good carried out by the Ukraine and he offered up 21 points and 10 rebounds.
There was last second drama as Lithuania defeated Estonia with just two seconds to spare. This follows on from Tuesday night when the Lithuanian football team avoided embarrassment with a last minute winner against minnows San Marino, so clearly the Lithuanians have been leaving it late but just about taking care of business in the end! Jonas Maciulis grabbed the winning basket and this was enough to place Lithuania into the knock-out round. Janar Talts grabbed 20 points for Estonia.
