FIBA EuroBasket 2015 Betting TipsSo far, after just two rounds of games admittedly, Group A is a case of the winners and the losers. This can be seen with the fact that there are three teams on 4 points, after having won two games each, and there are three teams on 2 points, after having lost two games each. This position will definitely change seeing as though two of the winners will face each other and two of the losers will square off against each other in round 3, but there has been plenty of action and drama in Group A so far and this looks set to continue in the next round.

The results in Group A on Sunday 6th of September were:

  • Russia 79 – Poland 82
  • Finland 66 – Israel 79
  • Bosnia and Herzegovina 54 – France 81

Russia are clearly in trouble with a 0-2 record and their preparations for the tournament have clearly them left them a little short of what they should be. Not that this should take away from the result earned by Poland or by the effort put in by both teams. Russia were boosted by the performance of Andrey Zubkov, who provided 21 points and 7 rebounds over the course of the game. However, with Marcin Gortat in excellent form, providing 18 points and 6 rebounds, Poland were always in the running.

It was a game where the lead was changing hands in quick succession until a strong run of Polish form in the 3rd quarter gave them a lead and gave Russia too much to do to haul it back.

The Israeli side followed up their opening day exploits with a win against the battling Finns. The Finnish side weren’t quite able to match the level of play and tenacity that they managed against the French in their opening game but they have still given their fans plenty to cheer about in this game. A blistering 0-10 run for Israel in the opening quarter gave the Finnish side too much to do, even if Erik Murphy was in scintillating form with 24 points and 9 rebounds.

After a tricky opening game, The French would have preferred to avoid a stumbling start against Bosnia and Herzegovina but this was exactly what they served up. If the home crowd in Montpellier was starting to feel restless, they were calmed in the second quarter and from then, the French took control and eased to a comfortable victory, giving them their second win in two days.

The previews Group A on Monday 7th of September are:

Finland v Russia

Both sides have lost both of their opening games but it is likely that the mood in both camps will be extremely different. The Finnish side came into this tournament with not a lot of expectations but they have played well and given their fans plenty to shout about. They will see the game against Russia as a chance to grab something, even though the Russians should be too strong for them.

Of course, we are yet to see anything like a full-strength or focused Russian side in this tournament. The poor preparations for the event have clearly overshadowed the team going into this game but if Andrey Zubkox can replicate his round 2 heroics, there will be a chance for Russia to win and move into play-off contention. The nature of Group A means that there is still space for a team to come from the back and squeeze through, and the Russians are right in the mix for this.

The fact that the odds are so close for the Finland and Russia game indicates the poor light Russia are viewed in for this match.

Take Finland with a +1.5 handicap, at odds of 1.90 and if you are looking for an Over/Under bet, look to go UNDER 152.0 at odds of 1.90. Bet Now!

Israel v Bosnia and Herzegovina

This is the one game of the third round that pits a winning team against a losing team and indications would suggest that both teams will come out of the tie in the same frame of mind as they entered it. However, it would be fair to say that Israel hasn’t been fully tested in this tournament yet and it may be that Bosnia and Herzegovina have a bit more to offer. This could be a massively entertaining match to look out for.

Opting for Bosnia and Herzegovina with a +5 handicap, at odds of 1.90, should give you an interest in this match. The Over/Under options indicate going UNDER 146.5 at odds of 1.90. Bet Now!

France v Poland

Two teams with two wins from two games clash and while the host nation will be strong, Poland have shown that they are no pushovers at the 2015 EuroBasket so far. The Polish side have put themselves into a position where this game may not matter too much in the grand scheme of things for qualification to the knock-out round but this may provide them with a sense of freedom going into this match.

Taking France at -13.5, with odds of 1.90, is likely to be a sound bet for this game. If you are keen to take the Over/Under market, look to go UNDER 146.5 at odds of 1.90. Bet Now!
