30/01/2015 19:45 – FC Barcelona v Zalgiris Kaunas

Euroleague Top 16 Betting Tips - FC Barcelona v Zalgiris KaunasThis really could be a game that has a huge impact on Group E. Barcelona haven’t had the easiest of times in the Top 16, but they do have a 100% home record to look after, which means that they will be fired up for the visit of Kaunas. Their opponents lost out at home last week which means that they will be keen to grab a win on the road to balance it out. This is a game between two teams who have an excellent defensive record this campaign, so it may take some magic to separate these two teams. Thankfully, there is a host of talented basketball players on either side, so this could be a game that is well worth watching.

Barcelona need to up their game

euroleague-fc-barcelonaThe Catalan giants have an 11-3 record in the Euroleague this season, which includes a 9-1 record in the regular group, and a 2-2 record so far in the Top 16. This isn’t too great a record in this stage, but there is still plenty of time for Barcelona to improve on this. They have scored an average of 83.6 points in their Euroleague games and two players at the forefront of this scoring record are Marcelinho Huertas and Ante Tomic. Huertas, the Brazilian guard, can call on an average of 11.4 points per game and an average of 5.3 assists per game. Tomic has been able to deliver an average of 11 points per game while also offering up an average of 7.4 rebounds per game.

Things haven’t been too great for Barcelona in the Spanish league either; the club has a 12-6 record and sits in 5th place in the league. They lost their previous domestic outing, 103-94 away to Laboral Kutxa.

Kaunas need to transform their domestic form to the European arena

Kaunas had a 5-5 record in the regular group and hold a 1-3 record in the Top 16, giving them a 6-8 record overall. They have scored an average of 70.1 points per game in the Euroleague, a sum significantly fewer than the Barcelona record. However, there will be confidence in the team and a lot of this comes from the American forward, James Anderson. Anderson has delivered an average of 15.9 points per game and an average of 5.6 rebounds per game. He has been assisted by Paulius Jankunas who has offered an average of 9.4 points per game and an average of 7.1 rebounds per game.

Kaunas have enjoyed a much more favourable time in their domestic league, sitting with a 22-1 record and Zalgiris are currently in 1st place. Their most recent domestic game was a comfortable 76-52 win over Mazeikiai.

You have to fancy Barcelona at home and even though Kaunas have a strong defensive record, the Catalan club should have more than enough about them to put a wide gap between the two sides. This is why taking Barcelona with a -14.5 handicap, and odds of 1.90, will be more than enough to put a spring in your step before the weekend. You should also be looking to go Under in the Over/Under market, with Under 149.5 being a sound bet. Both of these bets are available from Bet365, alongside a whole host of Euroleague bets. This game could be an intriguing battle so if you want to see FC Barcelona v Zalgiris Kaunas live on the 30th of January, we can sort you out. Bet Now!
