Both of these teams are looking upwards and they will want to improve on their records if they get the chance. The hosts are enjoying another strong season in the Euroleague and their 15-6 record sees them sitting in third place. However, this is the same record that the second placed team holds so only the Euroleague leaders (Real Madrid) hold a better record than the Greek side at the moment. As for Kaunas, their 9-12 record sees them sitting in the bottom half of the table but they are just one win outside of the playoff spots, so they will be looking to move upwards too.
When these sides met earlier in the season, it was the Greeks that celebrated an away win, grabbing a 75-88 victory. There were six Olympiacos players who hit double figures with Kostas Papanikolaou and Matt Lojeski helping themselves to 16 points each. With scoring power spread across the team, it is easy to see why Olympiacos are so highly ranked in the Euroleague this season. The most impressive thing about last week’s win was that it was achieved without three kept players, Lojeski, Vassilis Spanoulis and Patric Young, but Erick Gree, who has provided an average of 10 points per game stepped up. There is also Georgios Printezis who has provided an average of 12.8 points per game this season. This is a game that Olympiacos should have a strong chance of winning.
