28-02-2017 18:30 BST - AEK v AS Monaco - Champions League Betting Tips

The Round of 16 gets underway in the FIBA Champions League and we are in for an exciting run of games. There are three games taking place on Wednesday night to ease us in gently to proceedings but with a game like AEK versus AS Monaco to start us off with, it is not as though we are starting slowly! This could be one of the best games of the midweek action so make sure that you follow the action.

AEK were comfortable victors over two legs in the playoff round, overcoming Juventus Utena by a total of 22 points. Given that Juventus qualified for the regular season through the playoff stages, they can be very proud of themselves but there is no getting away from the fact that the Greek side represented a step-up in class for them. However, it may be that AEK will find that this game represents a step-up in class for them and there is no denying that this will be a tough challenge for the home team in the first leg of the FIBA Champions League Round of 16.

Monaco were flying high in FIBA Champions League group stages

Monaco topped Group A and with a 12-2 record, they are clearly one of the most fancied teams at this stage of the competition. The French side have enjoyed a good break from FIBA Champions League action so it will be interesting to see if they are refreshed or rusty coming into this match.

AEK finished second in Group E, so they would have felt slightly aggrieved at having to play in the earlier rounds but their 9-5 record suggests that there was room for improvement in their play.

Michael Dixon has been a key player for the hosts so far this season, offering an average of 14.9 points per game. AS Monaco have been more about the team performance with Dee Bost currently leading the way with an average of 12.9 points per game at this stage of the campaign.
