Two Big NBA Games For Thursday

NBA Betting Tips 5 March 2015There are only two games to look out for in the NBA tonight, Thursday the 5th of March, but there are still betting opportunities to look forward to. There was a massive amount of games in the NBA on Wednesday, so before we look at the two games on the card for today, we’ll recap what unfolded on Wednesday the 4th of March, with a number of major wins and a couple of surprises along the way.

The Pacers defeated the Knicks in Indiana, winning by a score of 105-82 while the Nets were downed at home by the Hornets, losing out 91-115. The Cavaliers were on fire in Toronto, defeating the Raptors by a score of 112-120 while the Heat had enough about them to hold off the Lakers 100-94 in Miami.

The Timberwolves slipped at home to the Nuggets, losing out by a score of 85-100 while the Kings fell on the road in San Antonio, the Spurs winning by 112-85. The Clippers were clipped at home by the Trail Blazers, the Portland side winning by 93-98. The Magic fell at home the Suns, losing 100-105 while the Celtics grabbed a tight win against the Jazz, the Boston side running out 85-84 winners.

The Thunder dealt with Philadelphia 123-118 at home while the Pelicans had a narrow 88-85 win against the Pistons in New Orleans. The Rockets slipped up at home to the Grizzlies, losing 100-102 while the Warriors held firm to defeat the Bucks by a score of 102-93.

Dallas Mavericks @ Portland Trail Blazers

The Trail Blazers have a good bit of form at the moment but all they need to do is think back to last month and the way Mavericks dismantled them to realise that they are in for a tough game on Thursday night. The Trail Blazers are looking for a fifth straight win in a row but they will be coming up against a Mavericks side who are likely to be energised by a few returning players.

It was a cruel loss for the Portland side the last time these two sides met, losing an 11 points lead in the last minutes of normal time and then being mauled in Overtime. LaMarcus Aldridge was in fine form with 25 points and 14 rebounds while Damian Lillard offered 26 points, but the same player also missed a lot of chances that night and he will be looking for redemption in this game.

Portland Trailblazers LogoBoth sides have won 40 games so far this season with the Mavericks holding a 40-22 record, with a 19-12 road record, and the Trail Blazers have a 40-19 record, which includes a 25-6 record at home. The Mavericks won their most recent game, defeating the Pelicans at home by a score of 102-93 while the Mavericks are on a winning streak of 4, including an away win to the Clippers on Wednesday, triumphing by 93-98.

The last 10 game record for the teams stands at 6-4 for the Mavericks and 7-3 for the Portland side. For average points scored, Dallas has the edge, sitting with 105.2 to 102.4 and for average points allowed; Portland has the edge, 97.4 to 100.5.

The Dallas Mavericks may be able to welcome back Tyson Chandler and Chandler Parsons for this one while Joel Freeland is a doubt for the home side.

This is a game that could go either way but the Trail Blazers look to have an edge about them at the moment so choosing them with a negative handicap could pay off for your Thursday night betting action. Bet Now!

Oklahoma City Thunder @ Chicago Bulls

Oklahoma City Thunder LogoThe Chicago Bulls are relying on their squad to get them though a mini injury crisis while the Thunder have turned to one man, Russell Westbrook. To be fair, both teams are getting decent results from their different approaches to dealing with problems Westbrook has averaged 37 points, 13.5 rebounds and 10.5 assists in his last four games, a feat that means he is the first player to bag 4 triple-doubles in a row since Michael Jordan achieved this feat in 1988-89. Okay, Jordan went on to claim 7 triple-doubles in a row but this is still a major achievement from Westbrook. He has also become the player since Jordan to achieve consecutive triple-doubles while hitting a minimum of 40 points.

The Thunder have a 34-27 record with a road record of 14-19 while the Bulls have a 38-23 record, which includes a 19-13 record in Chicago. The Thunder have won their last two games and the defeated the 76ers 123-118 on Wednesday. The Bulls won their most recent game, defeating the Wizards on Tuesday, 97-92. The last 10 game record for the Thunder stands at 8-2 and the Bulls last 10 game record stands at 7-3. With respect to average points scored, the Thunder have the edge 102.1 to 101.2 while for average points allowed, the Bulls have an advantage, 98.4 to 99.4.

Both sides have injury concerns with the Thunder worrying over Steven Adams, Enes Kanter and Kevin Durant. The Bulls have doubts over Taj Gibson, Jimmy Butler, Pau Gasol and Nikola Mirotic.

In a game that both sides will think that they have a chance of winning, the Bulls have the home advantage while the Thunder have Russell Westbrook. If Westbrook remains on form, backing them is always the sensible thing to do. Bet Now!
