Sunday NBA Action Rolls Around Again
If you were hoping for a quiet day to round the week off in style, think again because the NBA has a number of excellent games to look forward to. The Saturday schedule provided some interesting games but not every result was a surprise. The 76ers lost again but the fact that they only lost by 7 points may seem like a positive result for them. The Rockers were convincing winners in Milwaukee, defeating the Bucks by a score of 103-117.
The closest game of the day came in Washington with the Wizards edging out the Pelicans by a score of 83-80. The Cavaliers grabbed another win, defeating the Pacers by a score of 109-97 and the Jazz lost at home, with the Los Angeles Clippers winning by a score of 96-112 in Utah.
San Antonio Spurs @ Boston Celtics
The Spurs come into this one with an 11-4 record, 5-3 away from home, while the Celtics have a 4-9 record, standing at 2-6 at home. The Spurs are on a winning run of 6 and the Celtics have a losing streak of 3, so you can see that most experts are leaning towards the Spurs for this match.
Gregg Popovich hasn’t been with the Spurs in their previous two games due to an undisclosed medical reason and the team have been marshalled by Ettore Messina but their head coach has travelled to Boston for this game. The Spurs had a strong home win against the Kings before hitting the road and the Celtics were downed at home by Chicago on Friday night. The team is on a poor run of form at home but there are signs that the level of performance is improving, even if the results are yet to pick up for the Boston side.
San Antonio don’t have any major injury concerns for this match while Marcus Smart is out for the Celtics, who are also monitoring the fitness of James Young on a day to day basis.

Chicago Bulls @ Brooklyn Nets
The Bulls hold a 10-6 record, with an impressive 8-3 record away from home, while the Brooklyn Nets hold a 6-8 record, with a 3-3 record at home. Both teams are on a winning streak of 1, bouncing back from defeats but obviously one team is going to find that their streak ends abruptly on Sunday.
For a while in their last game, it looked as though the Nets were going to suffer the embarrassment of being the first team to lose out to the 76ers this campaign. They avoided this by putting together a 9-2 scoring run in the final 1 minute and 15 seconds, but it was a lot closer than it should have been. Joe Johnson offered up 21 points and Alan Anderson delivered 12 points, 10 coming in the last quarter. There was also a double double for Deron Williams, who provided 17 points and 10 assists.
The Bulls had a strong win in Boston on Friday night and Derrick Rose showed what a talent he is when he plays free from fitness. Whether he is fit enough to go again against the Nets remains to be seen but if he is available and fit, he is likely to cause problems for the Brooklyn team.
The Nets don’t have any injury worries to contend with but the Bulls have a few players that they will need to look out for. Taj Gibson is listed as being unavailable for the game and Kirk Hinrich, Joakim Noah and Derrick Rose are all being monitored on a day to day basis, so some of these players may be unavailable for the game.
It is likely to be a close one but given the form on the road of the Bulls, taking them at odds of 1.90 with a handicap of -2.5 looks to be a safe and sensible bet for Sunday. Bet Now!
Toronto Raptors @ Los Angeles Lakers
With the Raptors heading to Los Angeles with a 13-3 record, with a 4-1 record away from home, and the Lakers welcoming them with a 3-13 record, with a 1-8 record at home, it is easy to see that most people believe that the team from Toronto will be the victors in this game.
Kobe Bryant leads the league in average points per game, with 26.4 points per game, but there is a need for other players to step up and help the veteran out. The Raptors have benefitted from DeRozan being in fine scoring form this season and even though he has picked up what could be a serious injury, the Toronto team have four other players who are averaging double digits for points scored in a game.
The Raptors lost their last match while the Lakers have lost their last four games, so there will be one team turning things around slightly with this game. DeMar DeRozan is out of the game and Tyler Hansborough is a major doubt for the Raptors while Ed Davis and Carlos Boozer are causing some concern for the Lakers.
