FIBA EuroBasket 2015 Betting TipsThe opening day of the tournament is always going to be exciting but for fans in Montpellier, there is a lot to look forward to. The French team are at home, but they are the third game of the day so the local basketball fans will have a bit of wait to see their heroes in action. Thankfully the games are well worth watching.

Poland v Bosnia and Herzegovina

It looks as though the bookmakers are tipping Poland to win this game and this is a very early chance for the Polish side to get points on board. With the top four going through, the winner of this clash will give themselves a huge chance of avoiding the bottom two spots while increasing the likelihood that the losers will be condemned to go home after their time in Montpellier.

Poland rested two key players, Marcin Gortat and AJ Slaughter, in their friendly win against the Lebanon and you can expect these two players to be at the forefront of the game for the Polish side. Slaughter has plenty of big game experience from the Euroleague and if Poland are to win, he is a player who will be involved with most of the action. Slaughter has recently ended his time with Panathinaikos and will continue his domestic career with Banvit from Turkey.

When it comes to the Bosnia and Herzegovina squad, most of the focus falls on the omissions. Players like Mirza Teletovic, Jusuf Nurkic and Nemanja Djedovi are all missing, and while they will still put up a fight, the Polish have a great chance to get off to a flying start in this game.

You can take Poland at -7.5 with odds of 1.90 and if you want to try the Over/Under market, go OVER 148.5 at odds of 1.90. Bet Now!

Israel v Russia

Yotam Halperin and Guy Pnini miss out on the tournament for Israel due to injury but aside from these two players, all of the key Israeli basketball players will be available, and they should be looking to make their way through in the top 4 spots in the group.

It’s been a trial and tribulation for the Russian side to get to this stage. There was a spell when it looked as though the Russian side would be banned from playing in the event and even at this stage, there hasn’t been a conclusive reason for the band, that has been overturned. Conspiracy theorists have had a field day speculating about the story but from here on in, the only thing that matters is how the Russian team reacts to the incidents of recent weeks. Top players like Mozgov, Kaun, Shved and Karasev are all unavailable to the Russian coach, and frankly this is a team that could soar or bomb at this event.

Ordinarily, you would tip Russia to win but you just don’t know the mind-set of the squad coming into this game.

Taking Israel at +3.0, with odds of 1.90, isn’t bad at all and if you fancy the Over/Under market, look to go UNDER 149.0 at odds of 1.90. Bet Now!

France v Finland

The host nation for Group A knows that they won’t have to leave their home country, even if they make it all the way through to the final and a win, but this isn’t always a good thing. Having the home crowd can be of benefit but sometimes this creates further pressure, and like Spain last year in the leading FIBA event, you can sometimes be undone at home when you least expect it.

Late squad news for the French sees Antoine Diot missing out with injury while Thomas Huertel comes back into the squad. Huertel knows what it takes to win games and while he may have been looking forward to getting fit and ready for a new season with Anadolu Efes, he is a player that the French can rely on.

The Finnish fans will definitely make themselves heard in France, perhaps slightly neutralising some of the benefits of the home crowd in Montpellier but you can only see this game going one way.

However, with the pressure placed on the host nation, taking Finland at +16.5 at odds of 1.90 may not be the worst bet you make. For those looking for the Over/Under market, opt for OVER 145.5 at odds of 1.90Bet Now!
